Right off the bat, I must admit that I am incredibly excited by this news, as an individual who grew up with the show, and was completely obsessed with it. If you weren’t a fan of the show, I would recommend checking out another news update that happened recently!

I never imagined that I would be making a news post regarding new Star Wars: The Clone Wars content. This could be one of the biggest pieces of Star Wars news I get to feature on this fan site…

After seeing the #CloneWarsSaved flood the web, it is officially confirmed that the animated Star Wars television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars is returning with brand new episodes (though the entire capacity of its return is not yet clear). This is not a drill, fellow fans! One of my own friends thought I was messing with him, but I am certainly not cruel enough to joke about my childhood show.

We received news that Dave Filoni, the multi-Emmy winner show’s executive producer, would be hosting a 10-year anniversary panel for the show at San Diego Comic Con with some special guests, but never did I imagine the announcement that would be revealed at the end of the panel. “Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back. Let that sink in. Because you helped make it happen with your love for the series and unwavering support.” The show will be returning with 12 brand new episodes that will be released on Disney’s new direct streaming service. It’s not clear if we will get further episodes than that, or what the duration of each episode will be. Check out a direct interview with Dave Filoni himself here! Filoni never fails to mention the intense support that fans give towards him and the show, and how overwhelming the passion they express can be.

We were even given a short trailer with the announcement, and boy does it make quite the impact. The return of the iconic voice actors Dee Bradley Baker, Ashley Eckstein, Matt Lanter, and James Arnold Taylor…the style of the animation…the music and general vibe of the show returns to the screen…

Check out the trailer for the new episodes!

Starwars.com article!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars began airing back in 2008 on Cartoon Network, continuing the stories of many fan-favorite characters, and naturally introduced brand new characters that will never be forgotten, like young Ahsoka Tano, who has made a profound impact on both fans and the universe. The beloved show was abruptly cancelled after airing it’s 5th season, with the season finale ending in a fade-to-black and a special musical farewell. A shorter, 6th season of episodes called “The Lost Missions” was later released as a Netflix exclusive, and these episodes were excited and welcomed by the fans. Since then, there has been no talk about making new episodes, only the wishes of longtime fans. Today, our hopes are being answered.
